Schedule for the Wars of The Roses Fundraiser

Ticket prices coming VERY SOON!

I’ve been a devoted fan of Shakespeare ever since encountering Macbeth at 16, a moment that sparked a lifelong passion. Since then, I’ve acted in, directed, and taught all of his plays. It was in theater school in 1989 that I first learned about the Wars of the Roses, an epic 8-play cycle that begins with Richard II and spans the Henry plays, culminating in the dramatic conclusion of Richard III. These plays trace the turbulent history of England, culminating in the battle for supremacy between the House of Lancaster (Red Rose) and the House of York (White Rose).

If you’re a fan of HBO’s Succession, The Lord of the Rings, or Game of Thrones, you’ll be captivated by this sweeping political saga of power struggles, betrayal, and family intrigue. Rarely staged, this cycle is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s history plays as a unified and thrilling journey.

Join us at the Shakespeare Villa for a marathon like no other: 8 one-hour staged readings, each bringing these rarely performed works to life. Whether you stay for one or immerse yourself in the entire odyssey, this is Shakespeare as you’ve never seen him before. Together, let’s celebrate the Bard while supporting the Villa’s mission to keep Shakespeare's work vibrant and accessible for all.
